August 2023

The dredging is now expected to start after Labor Day due to a shortage of crew, and take 10-15 business days depending on weather conditions. Dredging will pause for the weekends. Please review the graphic for the areas boaters must avoid. The Harbormaster will have a staffed boat monitoring the area the majority of the time.

On the Spit, SPB will have extra security and signage to deter beach goers from going near the active construction site near the Fisherman’s Stairs. Please treat the area as an active construction site and share information so that we can keep the area and people safe. We will provide updates as we hear them. Thank you all for your cooperation!

Please be aware that the area to the right of the entry to the Spit, over to the Fisherman’s Stairs is a construction site during the dredging. Please do not enter this area until the dredging has been completed.

There may be times when the beach on the ocean side will be closed to swimming. Please check the signage as it will be posted when the beach will be close. Thank you for your co-operation as we want everyone to remain safe
